Roselyn Maynard

Roselyn was born and grew up in Davos, Switzerland. She studied recorder at the Musikhochschule in Zurich with Matthias Weilenmann, gaining her diploma in 2003. After another year of performing and teaching in Switzerland, she came to London, where she studied musical performance with Peter Holtslag and Daniel Bruggen as a postgraduate at the Royal Academy of Music. While at college, Roselyn also took the opportunity to study musical physiology with Dr. Horst Hildebrandt and Alexander Technique with Ilana Machover. These have been strong influences in her performance and her teaching work.

As a member of the Zurich baroque orchestra musica inaudita, Roselyn performs regularly all over Switzerland. Besides performing early chamber music, Roselyn is particularly interested in modern works. In her final recital in 2006 at the Royal Academy, she played the premiere of a recorder concerto written for her by Luke Styles. At the Berlin festival of contemporary music, MärzMusik, she played with the ensemble Concerto de Viole in Mauricio Kagel’s Music for Renaissance instruments. On a tour through Switzerland’s theatres, she also performed the chamber opera Aschenbrödel by the Swiss composer Martin Derungs.
