The development of the recorder over the centuries has been inspired by the settings and expectations of performance.
Witness an exploration of the relationship between music and space ranging from the ethereal beauty of sacred music to
artful counterpoint, courtly dances and contemporary soundscapes. Consortium5 offer a glimpse into forgotten worlds of church, royalty, leisure and life, contrasted with modern approaches to their instrument's possibilities. During its long and varied history as an instrument played at Royal Courts as well as in popular domestic music making,
the recorder has been associated with the characteristics of all of the above.
