Kathryn Corrigan

Kathryn Corrigan was born in Coventry where she began her musical education. Going on to read music at the University of Durham Kathryn specialised in the meaning and sociology of music and was award first class for her final degree performance. She then studied recorder at the Royal Academy of Music with Peter Holtslag and Daniël Brüggen and graduated in 2006 with an MMus in performance. In her final year at the Academy Kathryn was a founding member of the recorder quintet Consortium5 which went on to win the prestigious Deutsche Bank Pyramid Award for performance. Consortium5 were finalists in the 12th Early Music Network Young Artists Competition at the York Early Music Festival and in addition to a busy performance schedule are currently Junior Fellows at Trinity College of Music where they are working with composers to develop new and exciting music for their quintet. In addition to her work with Consortium5 Kathryn is developing new and innovative programmes for chamber groups, combining historical performance with contemporary solo and chamber music and is particularly interested in new forms of presentation for performance. She has broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and has given concerto performances in London and the Midlands as well as regular performances throughout the UK. Kathryn is passionate about education and combines her performance career with teaching individuals and coaching ensembles as well as giving educational workshops with Consortium5 and on behalf of "Live Music Now".
