Kathryn
Corrigan
was born
in Coventry where she began her musical education. Going on to
read music at the University of
Durham Kathryn specialised in the meaning and sociology of music and
was award
first class for her final degree performance.
She then studied recorder at the Royal Academy of Music with Peter
Holtslag and Daniël Brüggen and graduated in 2006 with an MMus in
performance. In her final year at the
Academy Kathryn was a founding member of the recorder quintet
Consortium5 which
went on to win the prestigious Deutsche Bank Pyramid Award for
performance. Together with Consortium5
Kathryn also held a two year Junior Fellowship at Trinity College of
Music
working with composers to develop new and exciting music for recorder
quintet. January 2011 will see the
release of Consortium5's debut album “Tangled Pipes” with the label
Nonclassical. In addition to her work
with Consortium5 Kathryn is developing new and innovative programmes
for
chamber groups, combining historical performance with contemporary solo
and
chamber music and is particularly interested in new forms of
presentation for
performance.
She has performed at The Purcell Room, York Early
Music Festival, Newcastle Early Music Festival, Greenwich International
Festival, Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival and St Martin in the Fields
amongst
others. Kathryn has also given concerto
performances in London and the Midlands and has broadcast on BBC Radio
3. She is passionate about education and
combines her performance career with teaching individuals, coaching
ensembles
and leading educational workshops. |
