Here are a series of suggested programme titles and outlines. We are also very happy to create bespoke programmes to compliment an overall theme or requirement for your event. Get in touch by email at Consortium5@consortium5.com to discuss things further.
A discourse of musicke
A feast of music that explores the changing voice of the recorder. Consortium5 showcase the development of a truly instrumental style throughout the 16th and 17th century, the virtuosic ascendancy of the concerto in the baroque era and the colour and power of the 21st century recorder.
Pleasant are teares which Musicke weepes
‘And though the title doth promise teares, unfit guests in these joyfull times, yet no doubt pleasant are teares which Musicke weepes, neither are tears shed always in sorrowe, but sometime in joy and gladnesse.’
In this concert celebrating the work of John Dowland, Consortium5 perform the Lachrimae Pavans, interwoven amongst the works of his contemporaries in an eloquent exploration of melancholy, pain, light, dark and joyful elation. Works by John Dowland, William Byrd, Christopher Tye, Anthony Holborne and Alfonso Ferrabosco.
The Speech of Angels
A concert of new and ancient music exploring the relationship between music, speech and words, and the closeness of the recorder to the human voice. Consortium5 perform sacred and secular vocal and instrumental works in inspirational new settings, featuring exquisite new works by Cevanne Horrocks-Hopayian (2013) and Luke Styles (2011), alongside the sublime Marian Motets of Tomas Luis de Victoria, and the Mass setting by William Byrd.
We also offer a shared programme of contemporary classical music in collaboration with the fabulous vocal trio juice.
