In June 2013 Consortium5 gave the world premieres of 4 pieces especially commissioned for the Wilding Festival. The Festival was put together to mark 100 years since the death of suffragette Emily Wilding Davison and took place on the very same site of her memorial service in 1913: St George’s, Bloomsbury.
Consortium5 commissioned works from Roxanna Panufnik, Litha Efthymiou, Effy Efthymiou and Cevanne Horricks-Hopayian. These were performed alongside works from women writing in the Renaissance period including Raphaela Aleotta, Madalena Casulana and that most famous wife, Anne Boleyn.
The group were also will also be joined by actress Katie Pattinson who performed original suffragette poetry alongside new text from Peter Tate as part of the works by Litha and Effy Efthymiou.
Here is a short film of the performance of L’Envoi by Cevanne Horrocks-Hopayian based on the poem L’Envoi written by Emily Wilding Davison herself.
